Loving this entire collection of Italian designer Stella Jean. The photography and styling is stellar too. So much more to see here.

This excerpt from Perfume has been lingering in my head all week.
“She was indeed a girl of exquisite beauty. She was one of those languid women made of dark honey, smooth and sweet and terribly sticky, who take control of a room with a syrupy gesture, a toss of the hair, a single slow whiplash of the eyes—and all the while remain as still as the center of a hurricane, apparently unaware of the force of gravity by which they irresistibly attract to themselves the yearnings and the souls of both men and women.”
If you know anything about me, it’s that I have a insanely keen sense of smell and love a glamorous shoot. Especially on a velvet tufted couch. Ogle, like I did, Lucinda Chambers’ “Lady Luxe” for British Vogue’s March 2012 issue. The set has got me dreaming in modern chinoiserie.

See more here! It’s worth it.
“There is a state many people value even more than chocolate after sex, it is the state of total immersion in a task that is challenging yet closely matched to one’s ability. It is what people call being in the zone. Flow. Flow happens and you go with it. Flow can happen during solitary creative activities. The keys to flow:
The elephant (automatic processes) and writer are in perfect harmony.
An excerpt from The Happiness Hypothesis Anthony just read to me after remembering how much I love to write.
Epitome of Parisian chic. This dining room is full of character. Period. It’s inviting and stylish from the floor to the built-ins (architectural details…sigh). And the two-sided fireplace and narrow pocket doors are so typically Parisian. And I just love lamps- everywhere. So what if this Toronto townhouse is a whopping $4.5 million? These classic elements can be easily replicated in your place too. Pass those croissants.

Fancy prints, lush setting, impeccable styling. Dying over this fashion video by Sofia Coppola for Marni at H&M. I don’t know who Marni is either but judging by the :20 second mark, the lady knows poolside. Isn’t candlelight magical…
Stylists Lucinda Chambers and Michelle Rafferty take the reigns here. Love the jewellery and that hat at 1:47 and the mix of patterns. Ah, I can feel the summer glow on my skin.
To be perfectly honest I have no idea how I’m going to decide to decorate my home. All my Pinterest pins are going to fly around in my head and I’ll want it to be effortlessy eclectic and uber comfortable. These homes give me hope. I love the idea of blown-up photography as wall art and as a simple starting point. It sets the mood, it’s quirky, and best of all it adds character to your home.

These women are my fashion heroes. They reinvent themselves every day with their fashion choices and pure confidence. Risky fashion always inspires me. I love the whimsy and freedom of dressing. It’s an art. I’m so happy these video exists. Can’t wait to see the documentary!
Sometimes you’re in a funk and you put something on and twirl yourelf around and bam!

I’m not sure what I love more about them, the crushed velvet or the navy blue. The point says cowgirl but the heel says couture. Worn with a dress below explains it all.

Have you heard of this book? I just found out that a Renaissance Soul is a thing and I like it. Would also make a gorgeous band name.
For a long time now I have tried simply to write the best I can. Sometimes I have good luck and write better than I can.

This is too good. Can you really blame them? I just love Frank holding that cake and smiling. I want them to be famous.
Do you hear it clicking??
No!
Oh, and Happy 2012!

Can you imagine having to put together 1960’s Manhattan interiors for a living. For a living!! What pocket of the universe is Amy Wells from? I stumbled upon this juicy Q&A with the set decorator for the visually gorgeous Mad Men (and I’m not just referring to the furniture). I even heard there was a historically accurate Time magazine as a prop. That’s dedication!
Here are some things I learned:
Read the articles here and here and how she shops vintage here! Oh, and my fave, listen here. (What? I know, I go internet crazy!)
P.S. She’s also the talent behind A Single Man set!
